Kozhikode: Strong protests have been raised against the police for trying to protect an accused in a case of attempt to molest a Dalit woman working at Kozhikode beach hospital. Despite the fact that the victim had filed a complaint against the accused for attempted rape several weeks ago, the police are not ready to arrest the culprit.
The incident related to the case occurred on August 10, when the security supervisor of the hospital, Suresh, tried to molest the woman. The woman was changing her dress after work, when Suresh attacked her. The police are yet to apprehend the accused.
Meanwhile, Suresh approached the Kozhikode District Court to get anticipatory bail; however, it was rejected by the court. The police did not intensify their investigation even at this stage.
The victim accused the police of giving the accused an opportunity to approach the higher court to get bail. Dalit organizations have also raised strong protests against the police inaction and the plight of the Dalit woman.
The victim along with other protesters said that they would fight till justice is served.
