UP: Dalit beaten to death for drinking water from a pitcher, police engaged in investigation
The injured were sent to the district hospital for treatment. The police is investigating the matter.

A case of untouchability has come to light in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. Here, a Scheduled Caste person was brutally beaten and injured by the elders for drinking water from a pitcher kept in a public place. The case of assault due to untouchability reached the police station. Here the victim has complained and accused two youths of assaulting him. The injured were sent to the district hospital for treatment. The police is investigating the matter.
A similar case of untouchability has come to light in Luhedi village under Srinagar Kotwali area of Mahoba. In this, two people beat up a Scheduled Caste youth because he drank water from a pot kept in a public place. According to the information, he is a resident of Tindani village of Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Kamal had come to village Luheri of Mahoba to attend the wedding ceremony of his brother-in-law Kishori.
The victim Kamal told that he was eating eggs in the egg cart installed in the village where Hemant Rajput and another unknown person standing nearby were also eating eggs on the cart. As soon as the victim drank water from the pot kept on the cart after eating the egg, both the youths became enraged and attacked him, asking his caste. When the victim told that he belonged to Scheduled Caste, they beat him up.
It is alleged that he was beaten to such an extent that he suffered serious injuries on his head and body. Both the accused fled after throwing it towards the river in an unconscious state. While searching for the victim Kamal, his sister and brother-in-law found him lying unconscious. Everyone took the blood-soaked injured person to the police station, where the victim narrated his ordeal and demanded action. The police admitted the injured to the emergency ward of the district hospital for treatment where he was medically examined.
