Bhopal. Cases of atrocities on tribals are continuously coming to light in Madhya Pradesh. Last week, videos of two incidents from Betul district had gone viral, in which a tribal youth was being hanged upside down and beaten. Recently the latest case has come to light from Satna district. Where a tribal was beaten severely due to a land dispute, due to which his leg got fractured.
According to the information, the accused had taken the land of a tribal on rent in Satna city, when the youth went to take possession of the land and take back the lease, he was beaten fiercely. The land lease was in the name of the mother of victim tribal Santosh Kol. The accused had taken the leased land on rent in the name of opening a shop, but when Santosh went to take possession of his land, the accused attacked him with sticks and rods.
Police registered the case
The victim complained to the police, after which the police brought the injured person to the district hospital, where he is being treated. Satna city police station in-charge Sudeep Soni said that the complainant, resident of Ghurdang, has come to the police station and lodged a complaint. Santosh told that he had gone to ask for the lease of his shop.
After which, accused Gyanendra Naval and Ratnesh had a dispute with Santosh Kol, the accused beat up Santosh. Due to the assault, he suffered serious injuries on his leg. A case of assault and SC/ST Act has been registered against the accused and the matter is being investigated.

Cases are continuously being reported against tribals in Madhya Pradesh. Last week also in Betul district, a tribal youth was stripped naked, hanged upside down and beaten over a dispute over money. Just two days before this incident, a young man was beaten up by a Bajrang Dal official in Betul, the video of which went viral.
Speaking to The Mooknayak, tribal activist Advocate Sunil Adivasi said, “Incidents against tribals come to light every day. These are the incidents that are being recorded. The number of incidents against tribals is continuously increasing in Madhya Pradesh, many of them The incidents are such that they are not being recorded. We have been demanding from the government that the cases of incidents against tribals should be tried in fast track courts so that the tribal community gets justice soon. After the accused are punished. Only then can incidents be reduced.”
NCRB: MP on top on atrocities on ST
According to NCRB data, 2979 cases of violence against tribals were reported in the year 2022, which is 13 percent more than last year’s crime. For the last three years, the state has remained on top in tribal atrocities. Rajasthan is second with 2,521 cases and Maharashtra is third with 742 cases.
