Muslims offer Namaz near Telangana Secretariat demanding reconstruction of mosques

New Delhi: Despite strong opposition by the police, the members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) and other Muslims on Sunday offered mid-day prayers on a road near Telangana Secretariat. They took the step as a part of their ‘Chalo Secretariat March’ to seek immediate reconstruction of two mosques demolished six months ago.
After the JAC’s announcement for protest programme at Secretariat, since morning the police were maintaining alert across Hyderabad and many leaders of MBT were detained and placed under house arrest.
The JAC convenor Mushtaq Malik and other activists went into hiding and dodged the police till they reached the place and offered Namaz in front of BSNL office nearby Secretariat, Siasat reported.
The police arrived on the protest scene and took the protestors including JCC members into custody.
“We are demanding from the Government to rebuild the two Masjids immediately, the promise made by the chief minister proves out to be false” Malik was quoted by the daily.
In July 2020, two Mosques located within the vicinity of Old Secretariat building were razed by the authorities since the work for constructing new Secretariat was taken up,
