Patuakhali journo attacked on bus

An unidentified man last night conducted an attack on the Patuakhali district correspondent of News24, Bangladesh Pratidin and BD News.

The journalist Sanjay Das Litu was travelling from Dhaka to Patuakhali on a bus of Meghna Paribahan. The incident took place around 11 pm when the bus reached Shiyali Bazar area of Patuakhali, reports our local correspondent.

Litu was rushed to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital.

“We have enquired about the injured journalist. Legal action will be taken on the basis of preliminary information. We have started work to find out those involved in the incident,” said Patuakhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Moniruzzaman.

Eyewitnesses said that when the bus reached Shiyali Bazar, which is two kilometers away from Patuakhali town, one of the passengers of the bus started throwing punches at Litu.

The attacker managed to flee from the bus. Kamal Hosen, Litu’s colleague who was travelling with him, took the injured journo to hospital.

Kamal Hossain said that the man who attacked Litu, had introduced himself as one of the top five criminals of Patuakhali.

Condemning the attack, the media workers of Patuakhali demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for those involved.
