Uttar Pradesh: Dalit youth shot dead, accused absconding
Lucknow. After the rape and murder of two Dalit sisters in the Nighasan area of Lakhimpur Kheri in UP, now a case of shooting a Dalit youth has come to the fore. Dalit youth Ambareesh Kumar was shot dead in Bhira Kotwali area of the district.
The accused youth is said to be from the village itself. On the day of the incident he went to Ambareesh’s house and called him out. In the meantime, there was a dispute between the two about something. Thereafter the accused shot the youth. The incident created a ruckus in the house. On information, the local police including ASP, CO reached the spot. The officials inspected the spot and got information.

On September 27, 2022, at around 6 pm in Bastauli village of Bhira Kotwali area of Lakhimpur, UP, Ambrish Kumar’s son Mulai Kumar (watchman) had a dispute with Arun Mishra alias Babu of the village itself. The dispute escalated so much that Arun opened fire. The bullet entered Ambareesh’s head. When the family members came to know about it, they ran to the spot. Soon a crowd gathered on the spot. The family informed the police about this. On information, the CO reached the spot along with the police team. He immediately rushed the injured to the hospital. Where the doctor declared him brought dead.
Family members said, “Arun is a person of criminal nature. Cases are registered against him in many serious cases. He has gone to jail many times.” Relatives informed, “Ambarish has three children – two daughters and a son.”

In the case, Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar, CO Rajesh Kumar, Kotwal Vimal Gautam inspected the spot. He gathered information by talking to family members and villagers. It is not yet known what had happened between the two. The Police is investigating. At present the accused is absconding. CO Rajesh Kumar said, “Efforts are on to arrest the accused. The team has been formed. Soon the accused will be arrested. The reason for the shooting is not yet clear. Is being investigated.”
