
Lucknow. A case of gang-rape with a Dalit woman has come to light in a village in Shamli Kotwali area of UP. According to locals, the accused strangled the woman to death. The body of the woman was found naked in a sugarcane field. After the body was found, the relatives and villagers started a ruckus for the early arrest of the accused. The commotion went on for about seven hours. On the arrest of two accused and assurance of financial help of the family, the family calmed down and the police took the dead body in possession and sent it for post-mortem.

In a village in UP’s Shamli, on the afternoon of October 28, 2022, a Dalit woman along with her daughter-in-law had gone to collect grass for cattle. Devrani returned home, but the woman did not reach home till evening. When the woman did not reach home, her family members started searching for her. As no trace of him was found till late night, the family members informed the police, apprehension of something untoward.
Body found naked after 12 hours
The woman had gone missing since October 28 evening. The female body was found lying naked in a sugarcane field on the morning of 29 October. A large number of villagers gathered on the spot. The villagers informed the police about this. The police was getting the Panchayatnama filled for post-mortem by taking the body in possession. During this, the family members were adamant on not allowing the dead bodies to be raised till the arrest of the accused. DIG Sudhir Kumar Singh, DM Jasjit Kaur, SP Abhishek also reached the spot.

Seeing the commotion increasing, the administrative officers formed several police teams. Police arrested two accused Shantanu and Neetu from their relatives located in Baghpat.

In this case, Shamli SP Abhishek Singh said, “A case has been registered in this case under serious sections. Efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused. He will be arrested soon.”
