
A case of burning alive an elderly Dalit woman has come to light in a village in Gaya district of Bihar. On suspicion of doing witchcraft in Gaya, people first beat up the woman and then set her on fire. Police say that the people of the village entered his house and first beat him up and then burnt him. Police say that the matter is being investigated by registering a case.

A 70-year-old Dalit woman was burnt by a mob in Pachmah village of Bihar’s Magra police station area, accusing her of being a witch. Earlier, the mob thrashed the woman to death with sticks. Then locked them in the house, sprinkled petrol on them and set them on fire. The woman has been identified as 70-year-old Hemanti Devi. Her husband’s name is Arjun Das.
The police present on the spot tried to control the crowd, but people pelted stones at the police itself. Police say that the body has been taken into custody after the use of force. At present the post-mortem of the dead body is being done.
Victim Arjun Das told that, “The son of Chandradev Bhuyan of the village had died a month ago. People had accused his wife of being a witch. However, efforts were made to resolve the matter in the Panchayat, but it did not work out. After that people broke down on the woman. The woman was first beaten to death with sticks and sticks. Then he was locked in the house and burnt alive after sprinkling petrol. According to the police, taking possession of the body, they have sent it to Magadha Medical College, Gaya for post-mortem. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Gaya’s Imamganj DSP Manoj Ram said that a woman was set ablaze by the villagers on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in Pachmah village, in which she died. He told that villagers along with a tantrik entered her house and the woman was beaten to death by the mob. In this case, the police have registered a case and are searching for the accused.
