In Sarangwas village of Sojat tehsil of Pali district of Rajasthan, there is an allegation that in the name of removal of encroachment, the police and administrative officials, in connivance with influential people, demolished the house of a Dalit family. Not only this, the family members of the victim were beaten up for opposing the action. It is also alleged that the police and administrative officials dragged the daughters by holding their braids and threw them outside the house. However, Tehsildar Deepak Mali, who went to take action to remove the encroachment, has denied the allegations outright. In this regard, an attempt was made to talk to the accused sarpanch and the police, but could not be contacted.

The house was in front of milk dairy
Mohanlal’s daughter Hemlata Nayak studied till class 12th in The MooknayakTold that his family was living for 40 years in a house built 100 feet away from the road between Sarangwas and Sevaj villages of Sojat tehsil. In front of the house there is a milk dairy of a person belonging to upper caste. Hemlata says that the accused could not tolerate her being there. That’s why the accused have been harassing his family for a long time. Don’t even give them milk from the dairy. The accused, in connivance with the police and Tehsildar, demolished their house by declaring it to be in the road limits. While his house is outside the road limits. They were not even given notice. Houses of many other people have also been built near the road, but they were not demolished. Hemlata said that Tehsildar and police personnel of Bagdi police station themselves assaulted her and her family members. Took her out of the house holding the braid. In this regard, he gave a report in the Bagdi police station. But the police did not even take the report. No one is listening to them. Now he is in a rented house, but there is no income to pay the rent. His father had also taken a loan to teach him. Can’t even repay the loan.

Mohanlal’s son Omprakash Nayak directed The MooknayakTold that “His father has been living here since before 2000. He reported 91 in 2002. In lieu of this, fine was also paid. Since then, he has been continuously building houses. On October 6, Tehsildar and Jabte of Bagdi Nagar police station came and broke our house. We were neither given notice. Nor was there any inkling of action. Tehsildar Deepak Mali, Bagdi Nagar Police Station Jabta and Sarpanch, a dozen unknown people came. As soon as he arrived, he started demolishing the house with JCB machine. Insulted with casteist words on protesting. The accused were saying that your stay here is not allowed. You are of low caste. You have to go from here. We kept shouting, but no one listened. We were able to get only half the goods out of the house. Half of the household items were buried under the debris. Omprakash says that Tehsildar and policemen beat up his sisters and dragged them by holding their braids.

The Mooknayak spoke to Tehsildar Sojat Deepak Mali about the allegations against him. The tehsildar told The Mooknayak that the allegations of assault are false.
“Mohanlal’s house was built in the road boundary on the land of the Public Works Department. Action has been taken to remove the encroachment on the basis of 91 reports to the Public Works Department. With the help of police raid, other houses built in the road boundary have also been removed. On the question of atrocities on Dalits, Tehsildar said that he is not aware of how the people of the village treated him. Tehsildar says notice was given to the trespasser. While the victim’s family says that they were forced to put thumb impression on the paper. He had no prior knowledge of the operation.
