Three of Munda community assaulted over land dispute

An influential man and his family members allegedly assaulted two women and a man of the Munda community over a longstanding land dispute in Satkhira’s Shyamnagar on Saturday night.
Abdur Rashid Shikder, his sons Abdullah Al Hossain, Abdullah Al Hossain Khalifa, and three other family members went to South Kadamtali around 8:00pm to Asit Munda’s house and beat him up, along with his mother and wife.
The victims have been identified as Asit Munda, 40, his mother Anar Moni, 70, and his wife Arati Rani Munda, 25.
All three injured have been admitted to Shyamnagar Health Complex.
Abdur Rashid Shikder claimed Asit and his family members assaulted his mother and wife. “That is why we beat them up. My wife is admitted to Shyamnagar hospital after being beaten up by Asit,” said Abdur Rashid Shikder.
Nurul Islam Badal, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said police visited the place and a complaint was filed, accusing Abdur Rashid and four to five other family members of assault.
