In Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, a Dalit woman has accused the Kotedar, who distributed ration, of misbehaving and abusing her. The woman alleges that when she asked for last month’s ration from the Kotdar, he got angry with the Dalit woman. The Kotedar assaulted the Dalit woman, the Kotedar also abused the woman. The matter is being told of Sikandarpur Karna village of Sadar tehsil area.

Kotedar assaulted a Dalit woman:

According to media reports, the matter is of last Tuesday when there was a lot of ruckus during the distribution of ration in Sikanpur Karna village. Sharda Devi, a Dalit woman who reached to collect ration, accused the Kotdar that she had put her thumb impression on the ration distribution register in the month of December but had asked to take the ration in the month of January. Now when he asked for last month’s ration, the Kotdar was shocked. Enraged, the Kotedar along with his father beat up the Dalit woman and chased her away from the ration shop while abusing her.

The woman lodged the report:

Giving information about the whole matter, the Dalit woman went to the Bighapur police station and lodged a complaint. In her complaint, the Dalit woman has accused the Kotedar and her father of assaulting her, abusing her and making her run with a stick.

However, Inspector-in-charge of Bighapur has handed over the investigation of the case to Inspector-in-charge of Halka police, Kamta Prasad. On the other hand, the villagers say that Kotedar keeps on fighting with someone or the other over the issue of ration.

Kotedar is doing black marketing of ration:

In December 2022, it was announced by the Central Government that 80 crore people of the country would be given free ration till December 2023. But the Kotdars misappropriate the ration in the middle. Kotedar did the same to Dalit woman Sharda Devi. They got his thumb impression attached to the papers, but when it came to giving ration, they thrashed and abused him and chased him away.
