Madhya Pradesh: Attempt to remove the idol of Baba Saheb in Ujjain, update so far in the clash between the police and the villagers.


Bhopal. Villagers pelted stones at the team that had gone to remove encroachments in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The glasses of the police vehicles were broken. Stones were also pelted at JCB. In this whole ruckus, 9 policemen including JCB driver were injured. The police also used force and lathi-charged the women and children along with the Dalit villagers. Here, Bhim Army has alleged that due to casteist mentality, the SDM had installed Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s statue on the government land on January 26, Republic Day, with the intention of removing it, the administration tried to take action, after which anger spread among the people. Went.
Actually the matter is of Jhitarkhedi of Ghattiya tehsil of Ujjain district. The team of police and administration had reached here last Friday to remove the encroachment. Meanwhile, the villagers attacked the team. Talking to The Mooknayak , SDM Sanjay Sahu said that someone in the village had encroached on the government land by fencing wire near the statue of Dr. Ambedkar. Villagers had informed that earlier programs of all classes used to be held on the ground, but stopped after the encroachment. The SDM said that “Bhim Army’s allegations are baseless, we did not go to remove the idol, we only removed the wire fencing.”
While talking to The Mooknayak in this matter , Azad Samaj Party’s State President Sunil Astey told that, the administration had reached the village with the intention of removing the statue of Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar. Which was opposed by the Dalit villagers, but the administration uprooted the wire fencing by running JCB. On intensifying the protest, the administration resorted to lathicharge, people were mercilessly beaten up. Even women were lathi-charged by the police.” Sunil Astey said, we have formed a committee from the Ujjain collector and demanded a fair investigation.
According to SDM Sanjay Sahu, the vehicle of some police officers got stuck amid stone pelting at the incident site. During this, somehow the security personnel took them out of there by making them sit in a safe vehicle. Among the policemen who were injured in the stone pelting, PS Yadav, Virendra Parihar, Sur Singh Bamnia, Babulal Patel, Sakshi Joshi, Arvind Yadav, Mohanlal and Shivshankar, including JCB driver were injured.
Villagers got angry
On January 26, in village Jhitarkhedi, located near Ghattiya tehsil, the villagers had put up wire fencing on a 30 by 100 piece of government land by placing a statue of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. On Friday, on the complaint of the Panchayat, the SDM and the Tehsildar along with the police officers arrived for wire fencing and removal of the idol. The officers returned as soon as the encroachment started being removed from the JCB.
Meanwhile, seeing the protest of the villagers intensifying, the police strictly tried to remove the crowd. After which the angry villagers attacked JCB and policemen. As soon as the information was received, the administrative officials along with the police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd, but during this, six policemen, two city soldiers and JCB driver were injured due to stone pelting. All were taken to the nearest government hospital and treated. No one has got serious injury in the incident.
In the case after the attack on the police team, PS Yadav, Ghattiya police station in-charge said that the attack was carried out by about 60 people. After registering a case against all, they will be identified and arrested. Based on the complaint made by the SDM, the police will identify the people from the video and file a case.
