COMPLAINT THAT THE DALIT COMMUNITY WAS BARRED FROM PERFORMING PRAYERS AND ENTERING THE MAHA YAGYA

Local Dalit leaders have lodged a complaint at the district administration office Kalaiya after the Dalit community was banned from performing prayers and even entering the Vishnu Maha Yagya to be held in Bara’s Suvarna Rural Municipality from Sunday.
On the 19th of Chaitra, the Nepal Dalit Mukti Sangathan filed a complaint with the district administration office saying that the devotees of the local Dalit community were not allowed to enter the Yagya in Suvarna Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 Ghusukpur from Sunday. Yagya is going to be organized near the place where Dalit community lives.
On the initiative of some people from the upper community of the village, a religious sacrifice is going to be held in Ghusukpur from Sunday to the next 5 Baisakh.
It is alleged in the complaint that after all the preparations for the Yagya, devotees from the local Dalit community of around 90 families were prevented from participating. Dalits were made to donate labor for the construction of the yagya site, local Surendra Ram said.
According to him, the organizers have also threatened to beat up their children if they send them against Urdu. People from the Dalit community were used in the mandap, pandal, flag worship, cleaning and collection of donations at the yajna site.
However, Surendra said that some of the villagers tried to stop the Yagna and worship. Dalits have filed a written complaint against a dozen of the organizers including Ramdev Prasad Yadav, Inardev Yadav, Pappu Yadav, Ram Ashray Yadav, Dinesh Upadhyay, Chandrika Upadhyay and others who are among the organizers of the Yajna, claiming that they were deprived of religious activities such as prayers and Havan.
According to the existing law, no one can be molested in the name of casteism and those who commit such an offense will be fined between 20,000 to 200,000 and imprisoned for 6 months to 3 years.
