Casteism About 50 school students from Dalit colony studying in Melpathi govt middle school were sent back home after caste Hindus refused to let their own wards study along with colony students, on Monday. Teachers said that the 50 will be taken to school with police protection

“My childhood friend spewed casteist slurs on me. He took the side of the caste Hindu men when I asked him to allow me inside the temple. I was shattered,” Kathiravan (Student)

20 students from colony were taken to school in a police van and allowed in the school. A 2nd van with 50 students was allegedly blocked by caste Hindus, and so the kids returned home. They will be missing out an SMC pre-exam, teachers said.
