UP: Dalit widow living with son-in-law and her disabled daughter’s throat slit

Uttar Pradesh. In Lakhimpur Kheri district, Dalit mothers and daughters were killed by slitting their throats with sharp weapons after entering their homes on Tuesday evening. This incident created a stir in the area. As soon as the information about the case was received, a large number of police along with Superintendent of Police Lakhimpur Kheri along with Circle Officer Mohammadi reached the spot. Police took both the bodies into custody and sent them for postmortem. The forensic team, which reached the spot along with the police, has collected several evidences from the spot. The police has started investigating the entire matter.
Know what is the whole matter?
Devipur village falls in the Hyderabad police station area of Lakhimpur Kheri in UP. Saraswati Devi (62) was living with her son-in-law at her daughter’s in-laws’ house in the same village. Giving information, the SHO Hyderabad said that Saraswati was originally a resident of Pasganwa. Saraswati’s husband has already died. Saraswati also has a handicapped daughter. Saraswati was living with her disabled daughter in Devpuri village for almost 12 years due to lack of any caretaker.
According to the police, Saraswati Devi and daughter Poonam (41) were living with their daughter’s in-laws in Devipur village. Police said Saraswati’s son-in-law Surendra returned home from work with his wife on Tuesday when they found the blood-soaked bodies of Saraswati and Poonam. Both were hit on the head with a sharp weapon.
Inspector-in-charge (SHO) of Hyderabad police station Chandrabhan Yadav told The Mooknayak that “we received information about the incident at around 7 pm and after that the police reached the spot. Senior police officials visited the spot and started investigating the incident.” Both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and all aspects of the matter are being probed.”
