Maharashtra: Dalit teenager objected to controversial post on Buddha Purnima, then abducted from office and beaten up

Maharashtra. In Thane district, a Dalit teenager was forced to protest against an objectionable post on Buddha Purnima. On raising objections about the post, there was a debate on social media itself. Later, after reaching Kishor’s workplace, the accused abducted him, took him to the forest, stripped him, thrashed him and made a video. Later, when this video went viral on social media, there was a stir. Police have registered a case in this case and arrested 12 people and sent them to jail.

A Dalit teenager lives in Kalyan of Khadakpada area in Thane district of Maharashtra. He works as a delivery boy in a food delivery company. Two days ago, Kishore saw some posts on Instagram regarding Buddha Purnima which he found objectionable. An official of Khadakpada police station said that when the teenager asked the people who posted the posts to remove them, he got into an argument with the accused.
Police said that the next day some people reached the place of work of the teenager, dragged him along with them to the forest. After this, they took off his clothes and thrashed him and then paraded him on the road and also put the video of the incident on social media.
In this case, the station officer told that 12 people have been arrested after registering a case on the complaint of the teenager. Further investigation is going on.
