A 17-year-old Dalit girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district died by suicide on Thursday after police allegedly forced her family members to compromise in a rape case lodged against a neighbour, whom they also accused of having threatened her. Her family members have alleged that she ended her life as the police failed to arrest the accused who was threatening her to withdraw the case.
