Vidisha News: Vidisha (Navdunia Representative). Even today the shackles of discrimination are not breaking in the social system. A similar case came to the fore in Bapcha village of Lateri tehsil of the district, where the patwari demarcated the land of a Dalit farmer from the government jarib.
Lalit Kataria
Refused that only Thakur’s land is measured with this jarib. At the behest of Patwari, the farmer had to buy a new jarib at his own expense. Even after this the measurement of the land could not be done.
Farmer Malkhan Singh Ahirwar, a resident of Bapcha, reached collector Umashankar Bhargava a day ago on Saturday, hanging an iron thread around his neck, when the matter came to light. Malkhan told that he has three bighas of land in the village. After a dispute over encroachment, he had applied for demarcation of the land in Tehsil office last days. Patwari Gorelal and another Patwari had reached the village following the instructions of Tehsildar. When he reached the village, he refused to demarcate the land with his jarib. They used to say that they only measure the land of Thakurs with this jarib.
By measuring your land, Zarib will become untouchable. After this, he bought a new jarib for Rs.1700 from Latteri and gave it to Patwari, but at the time of demarcation, 30-40 people of the village came and started arguing. Due to which demarcation could not be done. Malkhan alleged that he had to pay Rs 7,000 as bribe to Patwari and Chowkidar for the demarcation, yet the demarcation could not be done. Here, Collector Bhargava says that the complaint of the farmer will be investigated. Tehadildar has been instructed to demarcate the farmer’s land on June 27 in the presence of the police.
