Haryana: The sarpanch who blackened the face of a Dalit youth and the girl’s father were found guilty in the court

The Dalit youth was in love with a non-scheduled caste girl from the same village. On knowing the matter, the village panchayat and the girl’s father had committed inhumanity.

Haryana. In Hisar district, under the SC-ST Act, the special court convicted the then and present sarpanch Raju and Gulab Singh, the girl’s father, for blackening the face of a Dalit youth in an 11-year-old love affair case. In this case, the court has also acquitted 13 accused. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for July 31.
Know what is the whole matter?
This case of Puthi Saman village in Narnaud police station area of Hisar district of Haryana is about 11 years old. A Dalit youth was in love with a girl belonging to a non-Scheduled Caste community in the same village. The two were meeting each other for the last 6 months, on coming to know that on June 1, 2012, the village sarpanch Raju and Gulab Singh, the girl’s father, called a panchayat in the village’s chaupal, in which hundreds of villagers were present. During this, the young man was summoned and he was told that how dare you fall in love with a girl belonging to non-Scheduled caste community. On which the boy said that we both love each other. After this, the Panchayat blackened the face of the Dalit youth and took him around the village and imposed a fine of Rs 11,000 on him. He was banished from the village for 11 years. In this case, the youth had filed a case against 15 people including the sarpanch and the girl’s father.
The police who went to arrest the accused were taken hostage
In this case, when the police went to arrest the accused after the case was registered, the police jeep was also held hostage. Stones were also pelted at the police. Due to this, the police could not arrest any of the accused in this case. The police gave the challan directly to the court, from where the accused were summoned by the court. In the case, the youth and his parents gave their testimonies as witnesses in the court, after which the final arguments were completed in the court in two phases.
