The girl students living with Lakshmi told that Lakshmi had not eaten food for the last three days. According to a student named Priyanka, she slept at night and when she woke up at 4 in the morning, she was seen hanging, about which she immediately informed the warden. As soon as information about the incident was received, Collector Sanjay Kumar and SP Dr. Rai Singh reached Narwaria Hostel. Additional Collector Anuj Kumar Rohatgi is investigating this matter.
Police and warden accused of torture
According to the local newspaper, Lakshmi’s friend Priyanka told that there was another student living with Lakshmi, who had gone somewhere from the hostel in the month of August saying that she wanted to go home. After this, the Kotwali police was torturing Lakshmi in the name of interrogation. The police were threatening to send Lakshmi to jail and also sending her father and others to jail. The hostel warden and assistant warden were also abusing and torturing her. She was not being allowed to come out of the hostel, due to which she was not able to tell anyone about her problems. He must have taken this step after being fed up with the harassment by the police and the superintendent.
Lakshmi’s father Dinesh Bhil does farming. Lakshmi’s mother also works as a farmer. He said, his daughter was admitted to this hostel in the city for better education. The student’s father Dinesh Bhil says that the girl who lived with Lakshmi had run away with some boy after telling his daughter to go home. He also told the police the address of that boy. The police was asked to interrogate his family.
Instead of locating the girl or interrogating the accused’s family, the police continuously harassed him and his daughter. Dinesh alleges that the police had threatened Lakshmi on Saturday that they would pick her up and take her to jail on Monday. For this reason, he committed suicide by hanging himself on Sunday night. The student’s father is demanding action against the Kotwali police and warden.
