International Day of Democracy
In a region as diverse as South Asia, democracy stands as an essential pillar in promoting inclusivity, equity, and human rights. SARIM recognizes the importance of this day in celebrating the principles of democracy, such as freedom of expression, equal participation, and the rule of law. As an organization committed to advancing the rights and well-being of minority communities in the region, we understand that democracy is the bedrock upon which the protection of minority rights is built. On this occasion, SARIM reaffirms its dedication to promoting and safeguarding democracy in South Asia, as it is through democratic principles that we can ensure the voices of all, including minorities, are heard and respected. We call upon governments, civil society, and citizens across South Asia to recommit themselves to the values of democracy and work collaboratively towards a more inclusive and just future for all.
