Uttar Pradesh: Dalit first stopped from filling water, then brutally murdered

Uttar Pradesh. In the village of Uthais area of Badaun district, a child of a Dalit family filling water from a hand pump became the cause of death for his father. After a fight and abuse during the day while filling water, a Dalit youth was beaten to death with a stick while returning from the fields late in the evening. The police sent the body for autopsy. In this case, a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s family and the investigation has started.

Kamlesh’s 12 year old son Keshav was filling water from the government tap near the house on Monday afternoon in Sathra village of Uthaish police station area of Badaun. At the same time, the children of Suraj Rathore of the village also came to draw water. There was a dispute among the children regarding filling of water first. Due to the dispute over children, both their families also came to the spot. After this, abuses and pushing started between both the parties. The people of the village pacified both the parties. Everyone returned to their homes.
Killed by attacking with sticks at 7 pm
According to the information, when Kamlesh was returning from the fields at around 7 in the evening. Then Suraj along with some other associates attacked Kamlesh with sticks. Due to this, Kamlesh got seriously injured and fell down. He was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment.
What did the Additional Superintendent of Police say about the incident?
In this case, Additional Superintendent of Police Amit Kishore Srivastava told The Mooknayak, “In the complaint, the deceased’s father Jagdish has alleged that his son, 24-year-old Kamlesh, had a dispute with some youth of the village over filling water from the tap. Due to this, Suraj Rathore attacked Kamlesh by saying casteist words, due to which Kamlesh got injured. He was taken to Badaun in a critical condition, where he died. Additional Superintendent of Police said that the named Suraj Rathore was arrested. The matter is being investigated.”
