Uttar Pradesh: Uproar at Dalit daughter’s wedding, local police did not take action then complained to SSP

Uttar Pradesh. A case of assault by people of Jat community with wedding processions of Dalit community has come to light in a village located in Incholi police station area of Meerut district. It is alleged that the wedding processions were threatened by making an announcement from the temple. After receiving the information, a large number of police forces reached the village. The matter was resolved by convincing both the parties. People of Dalit community reached the SP office on Friday and demanded strict action against the accused. After this, the SSP has investigated the matter and ordered action.
This incident came to light during the marriage of the daughter of Subhe Singh, son of Phool Singh, in village Jalalpur of Incholi area of Meerut. He went to the SSP office and informed about this entire incident. Subhe Singh has also given a complaint letter to the SSP. According to the complaint made to the police, Subhe Singh’s daughter was getting married from a village in Daurala. The wedding procession had reached Subhe Singh’s village on Thursday. It is alleged that a young man from the Jat community, living in the same village, hit a wedding guest with his bike while under the influence of alcohol. When the accused protested, he called a dozen of his friends and beat up the wedding guests fiercely. It is alleged that during this time, people of Jat community gathered in large numbers and misbehaved with the wedding guests. They made an announcement from the village temple and threatened to kill the wedding procession.
People of Dalit community informed the police station about the matter, after which a large number of police forces reached the spot. The police somehow pacified both the parties. At the same time, people of Dalit community allege that the accused also threatened by making announcement from the temple. There is resentment among the people of Dalit community due to this incident.
Hearing not held in police station, complaint to SSP
Subhe Singh has complained about this matter to the SSP. The next day of the marriage, people of Dalit community including Subhe Singh gathered in large numbers and reached the SSP office. Everyone alleged that the local police did not take action against the accused. When the matter came to his notice, SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan got the matter investigated and assured action.
