Teacher Subhash Das arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a student

Subhash Das (59), an assistant teacher of the same school, has been arrested by the police for allegedly sexually assaulting a class 4 schoolgirl of Fatepur Government Primary School, Talar, Satkhira. He was arrested late on Friday night from his home in Fatepur.
Earlier, the victim school girl’s father filed a complaint with the police station and after investigation, the police registered a case against him under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.
According to the statement of the case, the assistant teacher of Fatepur Government Primary School No. 167 of the upazila, Subhash Kumar Das called the victim studying in the 4th class to the classroom around 12 noon on March 7 and pressed her hands and feet. At one stage, when there was no one else in the class room, he sexually assaulted the student’s body with his hand on the sensitive part. After this incident, the school girl came home scared and started behaving abnormally.
In a moment of doubt, he exposed the incident to his mother’s questioning. The school girl’s father complained to the headmaster of the school concerned to get redressal for this incident. But as he did not take any action, later his father lodged a complaint with various departments including Tala Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Upazila Primary Education Officer and Tala Police Station.
In this regard, OC (Investigation) of Tala police station MM Salim said that after receiving the complaint of sexual harassment, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Women and Child Abuse Act (10/2024) after investigating the incident. Besides, teacher Subhash Das was arrested on Friday night under the leadership of SI Monir. He also said that the arrested teacher was sent to jail on Saturday morning through the learned court of Satkhira.
Arrested teacher Subhash Dash said that he has two children and he was involved in the incident in a planned manner. His father contributed greatly to the establishment of that school. A dispute arose with some teachers and the Kuchkrimahal of the area around the establishment of the school. He claimed that because of this dispute and protesting various corruptions and irregularities in the school, the opponents have systematically framed him by creating false allegations.
Ishtam Kumar Das, acting headmaster of the concerned school, said that he has demanded to the concerned authorities to resolve this incident.
