Telangana: Dalit youth commits suicide after falling in love with an upper caste girl and getting harassed by his family!

Hyderabad: Kaki Sunil, a 22-year-old Dalit youth, committed suicide at his home in Kukatpally area on Tuesday after he was violently assaulted by the family members of the girl he was in a relationship with.
Sunil, a final year B.Com student at a private college, was in a relationship with the girl, though her family strongly opposed it due to caste differences.
According to Kukatpalli Station House Officer M Muthu, a case has been registered against the girl’s mother, brother and cousin for abetment to suicide as well as under the Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act. A search operation is currently underway to nab the accused and further investigation is underway.
The incident came to light on Monday night when Sunil and his friends went to a liquor shop in Nizampet. The girl’s brother and cousin were at the same place where they met Sunil and in a fit of rage, they attacked him with beer bottles.
Later, they reached Sunil’s house along with the girl’s mother and assaulted him and his family members. Dejected by the assault and constant harassment, Sunil committed suicide the same night, police said.
Sunil’s family, who had migrated from Andhra Pradesh, was living in Shamshiguda under the limits of Kukatpalli police station. According to the police, despite repeated warnings from the girl’s family, Sunil continued his relationship with her and they remained in touch over the phone. There had been disputes between the two families in the past, but the relationship continued, leading to the tragic events.
