Bhopal. Another case of sand mafia terror has come to light in Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli district, in which a tribal farmer died after being crushed by a tractor. This incident is from Gannai village of Barka Chowki area, where 46-year-old Indrapal Agariya tried to stop the illegal sand transportation on his land. During this protest, the tractor driver ran the tractor over him, due to which he died on the spot. There is anger in the tribal community after this incident.
Suresh Agariya, the elder brother of the deceased, said that illegal sand transportation was going on in their village for a long time, which was harming their paddy crop. When Indrapal protested against this, Lale Vaish, who is a former vice-president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, ran a tractor over his younger brother. Suresh says that his brother had just tried to protect his fields, but he lost his life in front of the might of the sand mafia.
After the incident, the police have seized the tractor of the accused Lale Vaish and the search for the accused is on. However, according to Barka Chowki in-charge SI Suraj Singh, even after watching the video it is not clear how Indrapal died. ASP Shivkumar Verma said that further action will be taken only after the post-mortem report comes. Congress has reacted strongly to this incident and cornered the government saying that atrocities on tribals are increasing in the state and the government is remaining a mute spectator.
State Congress President Jitu Patwari has targeted Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav over this incident. He said that incidents of tribal oppression are not stopping in Madhya Pradesh. He alleged that this incident is also a part of the same chain in which people associated with BJP are involved. Patwari said, “The freedom to loot is giving protection to crime and criminals. As Home Minister, you are silent. The police administration is also helping the mafia.”
Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath also condemned this incident and said that incidents of atrocities against tribals are increasing continuously in the state. He asked the Chief Minister, “When will the atrocities stop?” Kamal Nath called this incident a symbol of failure of law and order in the state and said that if the government does not take action soon, Congress workers will take to the streets and protest.
Resentment in tribal community
This incident has created deep resentment among the tribal community of the state. People are demanding justice from the government and demanding strict action against illegal sand mining. This case has raised questions not only at the administrative but also at the political level about how serious the government is about the safety of tribals in the state.
This incident in Singrauli is another example of the growing terror of sand mafia in the state, which shows how the mafia is fearlessly committing its crimes due to government protection. The tribal community, which is already a victim of exploitation and oppression, is now feeling even more insecure. Quick and strict action is needed in this case so that the culprits can be punished and such incidents can be prevented in future.
