The victim, Uma Ahirwar, who is the Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Akouna, was cooking food in the kitchen of her house when Amit Singh Parihar, a powerful man from the village, forcibly entered her house. Uma Ahirwar’s husband told that Amit Parihar entered the house and used insulting words for the Sarpanch and said, “What are you Sarpanch of the village for?” He threatened the Sarpanch asking why the road passing in front of their door was not repaired. An argument started between the two on this issue and the situation started deteriorating rapidly.
The children intervened and rescued him
Hearing the sound of fighting, Uma Ahirwar’s children rushed to the spot and tried to intervene and rescue their mother and father from the attackers. After the children’s intervention, the situation calmed down a bit, but the accused Amit Singh Parihar threatened to kill the sarpanch and her husband. This threat further frightened the family and they started worrying about their safety.
Police registered a case
After the incident, the Sarpanch and her husband went to Khajuraho police station and lodged a complaint. Taking cognizance of the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused Amit Singh Parihar. Khajuraho SDOP Salil Sharma said that the matter is being investigated and further action will be taken only after confirming the facts.

This incident has created an atmosphere of insecurity among the people of the Dalit community in Chhatarpur district. The victim’s family says that the village’s influential people keep threatening them repeatedly and they are treated humiliatingly every day. After the incident, many Dalit families have appealed to the police and administration for protection. Uma Ahirwar says that she is often humiliated because she is a Dalit, and now after this incident, she is very worried about the safety of her family.

Many Dalit organizations and leaders have strongly condemned this incident and demanded strict action against the culprits. Khajuraho police says that the incident is being investigated and strict action will be taken against the accused. SDOP Salil Sharma said that the police is looking into all aspects of this case and if required, additional security will also be provided.
