  • Demanded action against SHO and other accused police officers

Prayagraj: The issue of beating of Dalit leader of Bharatiya Janata Party in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh has become quite heated. A case of attack on Manoj Pasi, co-treasurer of the state unit of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, in the police station has come to light. Manoj Pasi has alleged that SHO Upendra Pratap Singh and six other policemen assaulted him. Dalit functionary of SC Morcha alleged an alleged attack inside Jhunsi police station. BJP SC Morcha has come forward on this. The Morcha said that we will not sit quiet in such a case.

What is the matter?

A case of assault on Manoj Pasi has come to light in Jhunsi police station. He alleges that he had gone to the police station to get information about the construction work stopped by the police at his brother’s house. Manoj Pasi alleges that during this time SHO Upendra Pratap Singh, sub-inspector and four other constables assaulted him.

On getting information about the incident, all the senior leaders of the party including local MLA, mayor, officials of various cells of BJP reached the police station and Manoj’s house. BJP leaders demanded immediate action against the guilty policemen.

Four suspended

Prayagraj DCP City Abhishek Bharti has suspended four policemen including three sub-inspectors and a constable in this case. No action has been taken against the SHO yet. There has been no statement from Prayagraj Commissioner Tarun Gauba and DCP Abhishek Bharti in this matter yet. ACP Jhunsi Vinal Kishore Mishra has said that four policemen have been suspended with immediate effect.

Regarding the allegations of assault on Manoj Pasi, the ACP said that it will be confirmed in the investigation. On the question whether the investigation of the case has been handed over to any officer? The ACP said that it has not been handed over to any officer yet.

Manoj gave information

Manoj Pasi, while talking to the Indian Express about the whole matter, said that his brother Roshan Lal had bought land near his house four years ago. He was getting a boundary wall constructed on his land. His neighbor objected to this and complained to the police. He said that the policemen came and stopped the construction work. They also abused me and my brother. I went to the police station around 12 noon on Wednesday.

I was asking the SHO and local outpost Chamanganj in-charge Santosh Singh if there was any written order to stop the work? Let the SDM decide the matter, as it is a matter related to revenue. I also asked them why were they abusing me?

On hearing this, SHO Upendra Pratap Singh, sub-inspector Santosh Singh and four other policemen dragged me into a room in the police station. I was brutally assaulted. I fainted. I later came to know that some policemen rushed me to the hospital, Manoj Pasi said.

He complained to DCP Abhishek Bharti about the assault on Wednesday night, but no FIR has been filed yet, he said. He said four policemen have been suspended, but no action has been taken against the SHO yet. The DCP told me that the SHO is not being removed due to Maha Kumbh duty.

SC Morcha President condemned

State BJP SC Morcha President Ramchandra Kanaujia condemned the assault. He said that until action is taken against the guilty policemen. A case is not registered against them for harassing a Dalit, we will not sit quiet. Manoj Pasi had not committed any crime, but he was beaten up in a way that even a hardcore criminal is not treated like this.

The president said that Manoj was seriously injured. He was not even able to speak properly. Manoj Pasi’s wife Sanno Devi also alleged that when she heard about the assault and went to the police station, the policemen also misbehaved with her. She alleged that when I asked whether my husband was killed inside the police station?

Sanno Devi said that no one was telling me about my husband’s whereabouts. On hearing my question, Sub Inspector Vipin Yadav twisted my hand and snatched my mobile phone. He also abused me. Now this whole matter has been taken very seriously by the BJP SC Morcha.
