NEW DELHI: The body of a 22-year-old Dalit woman, who had been missing since Thursday night, was discovered in a desolate canal near her village in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya on Saturday.
Her family has alleged that she was murdered, citing the condition of her body, which showed deep wounds, fractures, and missing eyes.

Circle officer Ashutosh Tiwari confirmed that the police had received a complaint about the woman’s disappearance on Friday and had registered a missing report. He added that further actions will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report.
“We will proceed accordingly once we receive the post-mortem findings,” Tiwari said.
The woman’s family has accused the police of inaction, claiming that authorities did not conduct a proper search after the missing report was filed.
A large crowd gathered at the scene of the discovery, demanding justice and swift action. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts are ongoing to identify those responsible.
