2 held over harassment of woman in front of café

Two staffers of Apon Coffee House were detained today on charges of beating a woman in front of the café in the Taltola area under the jurisdiction of Rampura Police Station on April 11.
The accused are Al Amin and Shuvo Sutradhar, said Officer-in-Charge of Rampura Police Station Ataur Rahman Akanda.
Police also picked up the owner of the café for questioning, he added.
A video of the incident, which went viral on social media today, shows a woman being physically assaulted in front of the café. Many shared the footage and demanded action against the perpetrators.
The video prompted law enforcers to take action.
The OC said the incident took place on April 11.
“We are trying to identify and locate the woman to record her statement and proceed with the filing of a case,” the OC said.
“Her identity, address, and contact details are yet to be confirmed. If we fail to trace her, police will file a case against the two employees,” the police official told The Daily Star.
An investigation is underway, the OC added.
