Bhim (Rajasthan). Tension has increased after the death of a woman Dali Devi during sterilization at Bhim Sub District Hospital in Rajasthan. Angry relatives and villagers started a sit-in protest at the main gate of the hospital and refused to conduct post-mortem.
The family has accused Dr. Nilesh Yadav of negligence and has demanded compensation along with action against him.
Bhim and Kumbhalgarh DySPs, Charbhuja SHO, and a heavy police force have been deployed to control the situation, turning the hospital into a police cantonment.
Dali Devi underwent a sterilisation operation at Bhim Sub-District Hospital on Monday. Her condition deteriorated during the operation, and she could not be saved.
The family members allege that Dr. Nilesh Yadav was negligent in the operation, which led to his death. Since then, the family and local villagers are angry.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital and started a sit-in. They refused to allow the post-mortem of the body and demanded strict action against the guilty doctor.
Earlier on Monday, an attempt was made to reach a compromise between the officials and the villagers, but the talks failed. The family reiterated their demand for compensation and legal action against Dr. Nilesh Yadav. The body of the deceased Dali Devi has been kept in the mortuary of Ajmer Government Hospital, but the post-mortem could not be conducted due to the protest of the family. In view of the increasing crowd and tension outside the hospital, the police have made tight security arrangements. Bhim, Kumbhalgarh DYSP, and Charbhuja SHO are present on the spot, and additional personnel have been deployed from the police line.
Locals say that there have been cases of negligence in the hospital in the past as well and this incident has further fuelled their anger.
