In Aligarh, the youth were stripped and beaten by the mob: The community said that they were beaten for saying ‘Jai Bhim’, the police said – a case of molestation, there is no caste angle!

Some people from the Dalit community have alleged that the youths were targeted because of their caste. According to some reports, the victims had raised the slogan “Jai Bhim”, after which the mob attacked them.

Aligarh/ Uttar Pradesh:  Three youths were stripped and brutally beaten by a mob for passing obscene comments to a school girl in Chikavati village under Lodha police station area of ​​Aligarh. The incident took place on April 26, a video of which is going viral on social media, which allegedly shows that the youths from the Dalit community were targeted for chanting “Jai Bhim”.

The viral video shows the attackers stripping the youths naked on the road and beating them with sticks. However, the police dismissed these claims, saying it was a normal dispute and there was no caste angle to it.

Police say that people beat up these youths for passing vulgar comments and teasing a school girl.

दलित समुदाय के कुछ लोगों ने इसे जातिगत हिंसा से जोड़कर देखा है। हालांकि, पुलिस ने इस मामले को सामान्य विवाद के रूप में दर्ज किया है और जातिगत कोण की पुष्टि नहीं की है।

Some people from the Dalit community have linked this to caste violence. However, the police have registered the case as a normal dispute and have not confirmed the caste angle.

It is alleged that three youths made obscene comments and harassed a minor girl student. The girl student raised an alarm after which the people around surrounded the three youths, stripped them and beat them with sticks. It can be seen in the viral video that the mob surrounded the youths on the road and beat them up.

The Lodha police station administration has registered an FIR in this case and legal action is being taken against the accused. Area Officer Gabhana, Sanjeev Kumar Tomar said that “The incident is limited to making obscene comments with the girl student. No caste issue has come to light in the investigation so far.”

However, some from the local Dalit community have alleged that the youths were targeted because of their caste. According to some reports, the victims had raised the slogan “Jai Bhim”, following which the mob attacked them. The incident has sparked tension locally, and some from the Dalit community have linked it to caste violence. However, the police have registered the case as a normal dispute and have not confirmed the caste angle.
