A 12-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped in a school in Moradabad, five minors made a video, police took action.

Moradabad: In a shocking incident, five minor school boys allegedly gangraped a 12-year-old Dalit girl in the principal’s office of a government school in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, the incident took place on May 8, wherein the accused gave the girl a sedative-laced soft drink, made her unconscious, raped her and made a video of it. After this, they threatened the victim that if she told anyone about this, they would make the video viral online. The five accused were arrested on Tuesday evening on the complaint of the victim’s mother.
Disclosure of the incident and arrest
The five accused, aged between 12 and 15 years and studying in classes 7 to 9, are neighbours of the victim who studies in a school under the Civil Lines police station area. The victim studies in a different school. According to the police, the victim initially did not tell anyone about the incident due to fear of threats.
On Monday night, a neighbour showed the video to the victim’s mother, after which the matter came to light. The mother told the police that her daughter had been looking sad and upset for some time, but she remained silent when asked. When the mother spoke to her daughter after watching the video, she revealed the entire incident.
How did the incident happen?
The victim said that on May 8, around 4 pm, while she was playing outside her house, the five boys took her to a nearby junior high school on the pretext of buying something. One of the accused, whose father is the school watchman, brought the school keys from his home. After locking the main gate of the school, they took the victim to the principal’s office. There, she was made to drink a soft drink laced with sedatives, which made her unconscious. After this, the accused raped her and made a video on a mobile phone. They threatened that if she told anyone about it, they would make the video viral on social media and harm her parents.
However, despite the threats, the video spread on social media. A neighbour saw the video and informed the victim’s mother.
Police action
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satpal Antil said that a case has been registered in the matter and all the five accused have been arrested. Medical examination confirmed that all the accused are minors, aged between 12 and 15 years. They will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday. The victim is being counselled to overcome the shock. Police said that a charge sheet will be filed in the case soon.
