A Disturbing Incident in Sarhari Sanghar, Sindh

Posted on May 23, 2025 by Editor

In a deeply troubling incident that has shocked the local community, A 15-year-old Hindu youth from the Vel Bheel community was allegedly raped at a tube well within the jurisdiction of the Sirhari police station. Reports indicate that the young boy was attacked after resisting an attempted assault, highlighting the terrifying reality faced by many individuals in marginalized communities.

Allegations of Police Corruption

The response of the Sirhari police to this heinous act has drawn significant criticism. Allegations suggest that the police attempted to cover up the incident by accepting a substantial bribe, allowing the perpetrators to evade justice. Shockingly, none of the accused have been arrested thus far, raising serious concerns about the integrity and accountability of local law enforcement. In addition to the police’s alleged misconduct, the victim’s family has reportedly faced harassment and threats from both the police and influential individuals connected to the accused. This intimidation has left the family in a state of despair, as they seek justice and demand the arrest of those responsible for this atrocity. The accused are said to hail from the village of Ilyas Kerio, near Chodgi, and caste affiliations have been cited as a contributing factor to the injustices faced by the victim and his family.

The Struggle Against Caste Discrimination

This tragic incident underscores the broader issues of caste discrimination and violence within society. Members of the Vel Bheel community, already vulnerable due to their social status, are often subjected to systemic oppression and violence. The circumstances surrounding this case raise a critical question: Is there anyone within the Hindu community in Sindh who can effectively advocate for and protect their rights against such daily oppression?

A Call for Justice and Solidarity

It is imperative for the community, along with human rights organizations and advocates, to come together in solidarity and demand justice for the victim and his family. Authorities must take immediate and transparent action to address this case and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable. The voices of the oppressed must be amplified to challenge the status quo and seek justice in the face of systemic discrimination.

Conclusion

The shocking events in Sirhari Sanghar serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by marginalized communities in Pakistan. It is crucial that we confront issues of violence, discrimination, and impunity with urgency and determination. Together, we must strive for a society where every individual, regardless of their caste or background, can live without fear and with the assurance of justice. It is time to unite in the fight for equality and protection for all, ensuring that no one is left unheard or unsupported in their time of need.
