Karauli- The tension arising after the Meera Meena murder case in Sapotra police station area of the district has taken a new turn. Police have registered a case against more than 35 people including Tribal Army founder and social worker Hansraj Meena. This action has been taken in the case of road blockage and demonstration by keeping Meera Meena’s body on the road in Dabra village. Hansraj Meena has shared information about this case through social media and has made serious allegations against the BJP government and local MLA Bhajanlal Sharma.
It is noteworthy that on July 13, in a land dispute in Dabra village, 20-year-old Meera Meena was accused of being pushed into a well. The injured Meera died during treatment in Jaipur, after which tension prevailed in the area and her family and community members sat on a dharna for about 34 hours.
Hansraj Meena wrote in his social media post, “For meeting the victim’s family of Meera Meena murder case in my neighboring Dabra village and raising voice for peaceful justice, I have been given the gift of a case from the police station. This is not a case, but the end of the government. Not me, but the society and the country will react to this injustice.” He further warned, “If my name is not removed from this false case, then remember that the waves of the Banas river do not just carry water, they can also become a symbol of public anger. This is not just my voice, but the voice of every citizen who stands against injustice.”
Meena also said that cases have been filed against her thrice during the BJP government’s tenure. Her social media accounts have been blocked several times, and she has also received death threats and abuses. Still, she did not give up and said, “This struggle is not just my personal fight, but the voice of all those who are marginalized, whose rights and dignity are crushed time and again.”
It is written in the FIR- traffic was obstructed by keeping the dead body on the road
According to the FIR registered by the police, on July 13, at 6:05 am, Sub-Inspector (SI) Suresh Chand of Sapotra police station received information that relatives and villagers of Dabra village had blocked the Kudgaon-Sapotra road by placing the body of the deceased Meera Bai (age 22 years, daughter of Amritlal Meena). On this information, SI Suresh Chand reached the spot with a police team.
The FIR stated that the protestors staged a dharna by placing the body of the deceased on the road and made the following demands:
- Immediate arrest of the accused.
- Compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the victim’s family and contractual job to one member.
- Arrangements and financial assistance for the education of the children of the affected families.
- Permanent solution to land division dispute.
- There should be no legal action against the protesters and the deceased’s brother Govind Sahay Meena should be given legal protection.
According to the FIR, police and administrative officials tried to convince the protesters several times, but they remained adamant on their demands. The protesters blocked traffic by placing the body on the road, causing inconvenience to the general public. The body had started emitting a foul smell and there was a possibility of the body getting spoiled due to rain. Despite this, the protesters did not agree and tried to stop the police from performing their duty by raising slogans.
The names of 32 people have been registered in the FIR, including Hansraj Meena, Bhura Patel, Ramswaroop Dealer, Angad Patel, Mahendra, Dharamraj alias Danny, Bhagirath Meena, Vishram Meena, Lala Meena, Pintu Meena, Mansingh Meena, and others. Apart from these, a case has also been registered against 40-50 other unidentified persons.
The case has been registered under sections 308(2), 189(2), 221, 223(a), 195(1), 190, 285 of the Indian Penal Code 2023 and sections 16, 17, 18, 20 of the Rajasthan Respect for Dead Bodies Act 2023. After a sit-in protest that lasted for nearly 34 hours, the protesters took the body of the deceased to the cremation ground for cremation on July 14 afternoon. Police diverted traffic through alternate routes and deployed police force to maintain law and order.
Calling this case “false”, Hansraj Meena said that it is a conspiracy to suppress his voice. He further said, “If the same incident had happened with the CM’s daughter and the police had not arrested the accused even two days after the murder, would he not have sat down for justice himself? Would he have also remained silent like this? I had gone to Dabra village only as a social worker to express condolences to the victim’s family, share their pain and support them in demanding justice. But the answer to my humanitarian initiative has been in the form of a false case. Is demanding justice also a crime now? This case is not against me, but against the truth and humanity which no power can suppress.”
