Gudamalani, Barmer- A shocking and heinous incident has come to light in village Bhakharpura of the district , where an eight-year-old minor child was not only beaten by some people of the village for touching a water pot and asking for chocolate, but was also hung upside down from a tree and beaten mercilessly. The mother of the victim child has alleged that when she and her family tried to save the child, they were also beaten up. In this case, the police have registered a case under several serious sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) including the SC / ST Act.
The incident started on 26th August during the day in Bhakharpura village. According to the complainant Pooridevi, her eight year old son was playing in the village. During this time, the accused Naranaram son Ruparam Prajapat and Demaram Prajapat made him clean the bathrooms and collect garbage. After getting the work done, when the child asked for chocolate, the accused refused. The child expressed his desire to drink water as he felt thirsty and extended his hand towards the water pot. Seeing this, the accused got angry.
It is alleged that Naranaram, Demaram, Ruparam and Ruparam’s wife started beating the child, due to which the child started crying loudly. Later he was released. When the child reached home crying and was telling everything, then the accused Demaram and Naranaram reached there and beat the complainant Pooridevi again. It is alleged that they also pushed and beat Pooridevi’s mother-in-law Choti Devi. After this, the accused picked up the child and took him to Naranaram’s house.
Pooridevi said that she and her mother-in-law reached the house of the accused screaming. On reaching there, they saw that the accused were beating their child by hanging him upside down from a tree. Pooridevi alleged, “We told them not to beat him any more, one of our children had already died, but they kept beating him.” When Dashrath, a member of the victim’s family, started making a video of this, the accused took the child down from the tree.

Pooridevi filed a written complaint at the Gudamalani police station on the same day, August 26, at 11:50 pm. The police have registered an FIR in the case. In this, a case has been registered against the accused Naranaram, Demaram and Ruparam under sections 115(2), 127(2) and 137(2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), 2023.
Also, since the victim’s family belongs to the Vagri caste (Scheduled Caste), action is being taken under sections 3(1)(r) (insulting a member of the Scheduled Caste/Tribe in a derogatory manner), 3(1)(s) (putting a person in fear of arrest on false charges) and 3(1)(IV) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Advocate Bhatraj Jogsan said that the police have registered the case but no action has been taken against the accused so far. This case is a vivid example of communal violence in rural areas and atrocities against the Dalit community.
