Bhilwara/Jaipur: A young man died in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district after being brutally beaten by alleged cow vigilantes. The victim succumbed to his injuries three days later while undergoing treatment. Bhim Army chief and Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad expressed his deep condolences and accused the Rajasthan government of inaction, demanding strict action against the culprits.
Chandrashekhar Azad , describing the incident on his official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, said that on September 16, Sheru, a resident of Mandsaur, and Mohsin, a resident of Bhilwara, were returning home from a cattle fair. Meanwhile, a group of so-called “cow vigilantes” attacked them on suspicion of cattle smuggling and brutally beat them.
Seriously injured in the attack, Sheru was initially admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara. When his condition did not improve, he was referred to Jaipur for better treatment. Unfortunately, Sheru died during treatment on September 19th.
In his post, Azad stated that an FIR had been filed on the 17th against some named and other unidentified individuals in the case, and that five people had been arrested. However, he expressed anger that the main accused remained at large. He described this as a sign of “government inaction and negligence.”
Chandrashekhar Azad made three demands to the government
Calling the attack a blot on democracy and humanity, MP Chandrashekhar tagged the Governor of Rajasthan (@RajGovOfficial) and placed three major demands before the government:
- A case should be registered under the sections of mob lynching in this incident.
- All the culprits should be arrested immediately and given the harshest punishment.
- The family of the deceased Sheru should be immediately provided with adequate compensation and full security.
He also tagged the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma in his post, making it clear that he is seeking accountability and immediate action directly from the government. This incident has once again raised serious questions about the violence perpetrated in the name of so-called cow protection.
