A Dalit student was beaten in the Masauli police station area of Barabanki. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at the library located in the cattle market. Udaybhan, son of Ramkumar, a resident of Dafliyan village, alleged that he had gone to the library as usual to study. Around 2 p.m., during lunch time, his lunch box accidentally touched another student, Pradum Shukla’s lunch box. Pradum, making a casteist remark, threw away Udaybhan’s lunch box.
Pradum called his friends and beat Udaybhan. He questioned how a student from a lower caste dared to eat with them. Library operator Gaurav also confirmed that the altercation occurred during lunch. At the time of the incident, 10-12 students were present.
The victim has submitted a complaint to the Masauli police station in-charge. Udaybhan stated that he is scared by this incident. His studies are being affected by bullying and caste discrimination. He has demanded strict action against the accused.
