Dalit teen not allowed to enter temple

Hisar: A 15-year-old scheduled caste boy was allegedly stopped from entering a temple at Dhani Kendu village near Hansi in Hisar district by four youths, who told him that the temple would become “impure” and evil will befall them if he did so.
The incident happened on November 24 but Hansi Sadar police station registered a case on late Thursday night. Based on the boy’s complaint police have booked the four youths, all residents of Dhani Kendu, under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 34 (common intention) of the IPC and sections 3(1)(r) (intentionally insults or intimidates a member of a SC in any place), 3(1)(s) (abuses a member of a SC in any place) and 3(1)(za)(c) (abstracts to entering any place of worship which is open to the public to a member of a scheduled caste) of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
