Stopped Dalit bride and groom from entering the temple in Jalore, Rajasthan, abused them; Case registered

On the one hand, while the country is celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav on the completion of 75 years of independence, on the other hand, practices like untouchability and social boycott remain in their original form. Even today people belonging to the Dalit community are being prevented from entering the temple. One such case has come to light in Jalore district of Rajasthan, in which a newly married couple from the Dalit community was not only stopped from entering the temple, but they were also humiliated. After the complaint of the victim’s side, now the police have registered a case and started investigation. It was told that the procession of Ukaram Rathod from Sadan village of Ahor tehsil had come to the house of Hukmaram Meghwal of Neelkanth village, where Ukaram was married to Santu.
According to the information, the newly
married couple went to the Neelkanth Mahadev temple of the village to offer coconut the next day after the marriage which took place on April 21 in Neelkanth village of Bhadrajun police station area of Jalore district. The newly wed couple was accompanied by some of their relatives. It was told that when the newly married couple reached the temple, the priest of the temple stopped them outside the temple and asked them to offer coconut from afar.
Accused on the priest, said – the
victim party could not come to the temple, told that when they reached the temple, the priest stopped them from entering the temple, citing the rules. The priest told them that the rules of the village are that people of their community cannot come to the temple, so they should leave with coconut from far away. During this, some youths accompanying the bride and groom also got into an argument with the priest, but still they were not allowed to enter the temple.
The villagers also talked about following the rules, as the
matter escalated, some people standing near the temple also reached the spot and asked the people accompanying the bride and groom to follow the rules of the village. Told them that when their entry is prohibited, why are they insisting. Meanwhile, when the people accompanying the bride and groom talked about forcibly entering the temple, the villagers showed them the fear of the panchayat in the village.
The women who came together kept joining hands
during this entire dispute, the women who came with the bride and groom kept joining hands with the priest in the temple. Along with joining hands with the priest, the women kept trying to pacify the people who came with them. After coming out of the temple, even during the conversation with the people of the village, the women kept pleading with folded hands.

Some videos of the incident have now gone viral on social media, in which the bride and groom of the Dalit community and their accompanying people are clearly seen being prevented from entering the temple. Not only this, it can also be seen abusing the victim side in uncivilized language.
Case registered, investigation started
. In this case, Tararam Meghwal of bride’s side has lodged a case at police station Bhadrajun. SHO Pratap Singh said that the victim alleged that the priest of Mahadev temple of Neelkanth village prevented her from entering the temple and behaved abusively with her. Singh said that a case has been registered under the sections of the SC / ST Act and the matter will be investigated by the officer.
