UP: Death after beating of Dalit in police custody, case registered against half a dozen policemen including SHO

After the incident, late on Monday night, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena has removed Merapur police station in-charge and Achra outpost in-charge. Merapur police station in-charge has been made senior sub-inspector of Maudarwaja police station and has given the responsibility of Madanpur outpost to Achra outpost in-charge. With these two transfers, a total of 40 sub-inspectors have been shifted from here to there.
What is the whole matter?
Gautam alias Sena (35), lives with his wife and three children in Brahmapuri village of Merapur police station area of Farrukhabad, UP. The wife alleges that, on the night of Friday 24 June and around 1:30 on Saturday night, the police had raided and caught her. Shortly after this, Gautam’s body was found 100 meters away from his house. Gautam’s mother Long Shree and brother Udal had accused the police of police station Merapur of lynching. On Saturday, June 25, the post-mortem of the dead body of the deceased Gautam was done.
The family alleges that, late in the night, the police entered the house and took the youth with them. In the dark, the young man was severely beaten, due to which he lost his life. Hearing the noise late in the night, the people of the village gathered. Seeing this the policemen ran away. The sister refused to take Gautam’s body after the post-mortem, fearing that the mobile of brother Udal, who went to the police station to register his brother’s report in the police custodial death, was switched off and action would be taken on him by the police. Later, on the persuasion of the CO City (Regional Officer), the family agreed and took away the dead body.
Post mortem house reached CO City
Seeing the matter gaining momentum, CO City Pradeep Kumar Singh reached the post-mortem house. He told the family that now a case has been registered. Your brother Udal’s mobile must have been switched off. After a long debate, on the persuasion of the CO, the relatives took the dead body along with the police.

The people present there stopped him somehow, in the end, Bhai Udal told that he will not leave the police station until the copy of the case is received.

Brother’s quarrel with ASP and ADM
The family kept on weeping after taking the dead body of Gautam. The police reached to collect the body for post-mortem, but the villagers did not allow the dead body to be taken and started protesting and expressing displeasure. On getting the information, the hands of the officers were blown away. DM and SP reached the spot and explained to the family members after which the body was sent for post-mortem. Brother Udal and Bobby had several fights with ADM Subhash Chandra Prajapit and ASP Ajay Pratap, who reached the post-mortem house in a hurry. At the same time, both the brothers and the family members were adamant on the insistence of lifting the dead body only after the report was filed. After this, the ADM assured that the police would register a case and take action.
Panchnama was not filled by relatives for post-mortem
Gautam’s relatives allege, “The police administration took away Gautam’s body under pressure. Even in the Panchnama for the post-mortem, no member of the household was signed.
The family members, including Udal, brother of the deceased Gautam, stood in the police station to collect the copy of the case. After this, DM Sanjay Kumar Singh and SP reached the spot and inquired about the matter from the people. Apart from this, the post-mortem of the dead body was done by a panel of three doctors. According to sources, the cause of death is not clear in the post-mortem. Consumption of alcohol has been confirmed, injuries have been found at four places including waist, shoulder and elbow.
Villagers told the story of police brutality
The fear of the police was filled in the minds of the villagers, but when a case was registered against the accused policemen, the villagers also said in a muffled voice, “The police, who went to raid the village Brahmapuri, broke Gautam’s door on Friday night and kept the goods in the house. thrown here and there. Broke the gate and cot of neighbor Sarvesh, broke into Satyaveer’s house and ransacked. During this time there were only children and women in the house. ‘Some villagers migrated because of the police’
The villagers told that, due to the police station Merapur, many people of the village have migrated in the past. The villagers say in a muted voice that the police harass them so much that there is no other way but to escape. According to media reports, till now a total of five people including Rajesh Rajveer son Sovaran Kishanlal and Malkhan of the village have migrated.
Accused of recovery on police
The people of Brahmpuri village told that, now only the work of recovery is left for the police. While accusing the police, some villagers told that, “The police picks up the villagers every day and recovers the money. If she doesn’t pay, she threatens to implicate her in a false case. Because of this the villagers live in fear of the police. The police come four times a month and take away the villagers.” The villagers have accused the police of extorting huge amount.
The matter of murder disappeared in the theory of SP
SP Ashok Kumar Meena told that, “Meerapura police station had raided Brahmapuri village and went back after destroying the Lahan. After this, PRV got information at 1.30 pm that Gautam alias Sena Fowler had died. The relatives have accused the policemen of beating them to death.”
He further said that the station in-charge Kayamganj has been appointed to investigate the entire matter. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report. Gautam has four cases registered against him for theft, kidnapping and making liquor.
On talking to The Mooknayak , the superintendent of police disconnected the phone midway. When asked about the action against the policemen named in the FIR registered in the FIR from Farrukhabad SP Ashok Kumar Meena in the case, he suddenly disconnected the phone. After reconnecting several times, the phone started saying busy. On calling from another number, the whole ring went off, but again this number also started saying busy. The SP sent a message to be busy in the meeting and later informed about the contact.
