Lucknow. In Tiloi tehsil of Amethi district of UP, on Saturday last week, a photo of an elderly farmer sitting on the ground among the officials went viral on social media. This photo of the elderly farmer made the district administration very angry. This picture was shared by a newspaper journalist on his Twitter handle on July 2, 2022 at 10:10 am.
The journalist wrote, “This distorted picture of democracy is of Tiloi Tehsil Auditorium in Amethi district. In the Sampoorna Sankalp Diwas organized here today, the elders who came to complain had to wait for their turn sitting on the ground. This scene has put the morality of the officers to shame.”
This picture went viral on social media. Opposition parties fiercely targeted the Uttar Pradesh government. The whole matter reached the CM. An explanation was sought from the District Magistrate. Giving his clarification, the District Magistrate wrote, “The journalist, who came with a complaint during the entire resolution day in Tehsil Tiloi, made it viral by taking a photo by sitting on the ground, as it is clear from seeing the photo that the elderly are looking at the camera. The old man was picked up from there and immediately made him sit on the chair.
What is the truth of the matter?
Mahadev, an elderly farmer resident of Tiloi tehsil area, says that on Saturday, on the occasion of resolution day, he had gone to the authorities with a request (complaint letter). The elderly farmer says, “I have been doing rounds for 15 years, but I did not get justice. The land number 504 is mine, on which trees were planted. Motilal of the village started cultivating the land after cutting down the trees. Gradually he occupied the entire land. Whose trial is going on.” On Tehsil Diwas’s photo of elderly farmer Mahadev going viral, Mahadev says, “No journalist asked me to sit on the ground. I didn’t even know them.”
It was informed by tweeting from the official Twitter handle of District Magistrate Amethi that the chair was immediately provided to the elderly farmer. When this question was asked to the elderly farmer, he said, “I sat on the ground for about 15 minutes. I was not given a chair, but was told to sit far away.

In the entire matter, the “Fact Check Platform” operated by the Information and Public Relations Department did a fact-check of the entire matter by keeping only the DM’s side.
