Bhopal. In Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh, the police has started action after five months in the case of cheating of tribal girls in the name of jobs by an NGO. In this case, the victim tribal Indravati Gond had given complaint letters to Ajak police station and others in August 2023. But no action was being taken. The Mooknayak had prominently published news on this matter.
The NGO first gave jobs to the tribal girls, then removed them by withholding their salaries. After The Mooknayak published the news, Aajak police station swung into action and assured the victim of action. On January 11 itself, the police station sent a letter to the victim asking her to bring documents related to the case. Information has been received that the police will register a case against NGO director Anil Sharma and other two accused.
This was the whole matter
An NGO named ‘Divya Jyoti Social Development Centre’, which is working for TB patients in tribal areas in Madhya Pradesh, first gave jobs to the tribal youth, but later after making them work for several months, they removed them without salary. The institute works in the tribal dominated districts of Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Shahdol and Khargone. The said NGO has received a four-year project from the government. In which the NGO will work under the Health Department.
In the project to run between the year 2022-25, the NGO was to conduct door-to-door survey in the villages from the youth of tribal areas and collect samples of TB patients and send them to the lab of the district. Along with this, awareness campaigns were to be conducted for prevention and treatment of TB.
For this, an NGO named Divya Jyoti had recruited tribal educated boys and girls in these districts for the post of Public Health Assistant (JJS) through interviews. After some time, targets were given to the appointed JJS. In this, it was asked to collect 15 to 20 samples per month. This target was also being accomplished by boys and girls working in NGOs. But despite this the NGO started cutting the salary. When protests against this started, people of the NGO started misbehaving with the employees. Some people were fired from their jobs without any reason.
While talking to The Mooknayak, Chandrakala Dhurve said, “When the NGO started cutting the salary, we called Anil Sharma, director of Bhopal-based Divya Jyoti NGO, and he said that we will give you work in the Bhopal office. When I When I reached Bhopal with the goods, they did not give me a job, and also withheld three months’ salary. After going back to Anuppur, I complained to the Kotwali police but no action was taken.”
Here, Indravati Gond of Anuppur district told that in the year April 2022, she was also appointed to the post of Public Health Associate (JJS) by Divya Jyoti NGO. But later they started deducting the money and when we talked to the NGO officials, they used to be abusive on the phone. The NGO did not pay me my entire salary for the month of August; apart from this, Rs 2,000 to 4,000 were deducted from my salary for three months. The NGO has cheated dozens of tribal youth like me in the name of jobs. Almost everyone has been removed without informing. Even after complaining to the police, no action was taken.
To know the side of Divya Jyoti Social Development Centre’s director Anil Sharma in this matter, The Mooknayak called his mobile number several times but he did not pick up the phone. Meanwhile, Tribal Welfare Department Commissioner Sanjeev Singh also could not be contacted.
