Uttar Pradesh . Due to only a minor dispute in Amethi, UP, a Dalit youth was beaten up with sticks and broke both his legs. The mother of the poor Dalit youth has already passed away while the father works as a laborer in Delhi. The responsibility of taking care of two younger brothers and two sisters at home is on this young man. Being the eldest in the house, the Dalit youth had the responsibility of his younger siblings, but for the last two weeks he has been lying on the bed. Now his younger siblings are engaged in his service. Police has registered an FIR in this matter. The police allege that “the police was not arresting the accused earlier”, although the police has arrested some youths out of the three named accused. While one accused is still absconding. The victim told that “the accused have carried out many incidents in the past as well.”

Shyamkumari, the mother of a Dalit youth named Moolchand of Angrava village of Jamo area of Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh, has passed away one and a half years ago. While father Kalidin (49) works as a laborer in Delhi. Moolchand also has three younger brothers and two sisters. Since the father lives outside, the responsibility of the brothers and sisters along with the household and farm work is also on Moolchand. On the day when this incident happened, as usual, Moolchand had gone to collect leaves from the farm on a bike for the pet goats, while returning, on the way back, the people of the upper castes living in the nearby village were found with bundles of leaves kept on the bike seat. Hurt by this, they stopped Moolchand by coming back. Moolchand told The Mooknayak that “I was returning from the field with a leaf on the bike, in this sequence Himanshu and Akash, residents of the neighboring village, were coming from the front on their bike, in this sequence both the persons on those bikes touched the leaf. Being hurt, they chased me and stopped me, one of them took out an illegal country-made pistol and fired at me, but I survived. Himanshu Singh and Ankit’s house was nearby . Moolchand further explains that – “I was tormented by pain, all three of them were constantly beating me. For 20 minutes, all three of them beat me continuously. After that I fainted. Some people of the village informed my family and relatives about this. The family members admitted me to the nearby community health centre.”
Moolchand says that – “My health was deteriorating continuously. The pain was not taking its name to subside. Both my legs got swollen. Both the legs stopped working, after first aid I was referred to the district hospital.”

Moolchand, showing his X-ray and city scan report, said, “Both my leg bones were badly broken. I have kidney injuries. The injury is so deep that even while urinating, blood is coming along.”
Government doctors were taking carelessness, treatment done in private cost more than 1 lakh
Moolchand says that – “My family took me to the Government Community Health Center for treatment. After giving first aid, the CHC staff admitted me to the district hospital. On going to the district hospital, my condition was continuously deteriorating. The doctors were constantly negligent. My relatives took me to the private hospital. One leg has been operated in two places. A rod is inserted in both bones. So far, a total of more than one lakh has been spent. ,
