Bihar: Houses of many Dalits turned to ashes in flames, did not get financial help

A state in Eastern India. In Madarpur of Bheldi area of Chhapra district, on April 20, about 100 huts of Dalit colony were burnt to ashes. In the investigation of the officials, the matter of fire due to short circuit is coming to the fore. And the villagers say that this happened because of the strong storm. Dozens of cattle were burnt to death in the incident, the ration and household of Dalits were completely burnt. At the time of the incident, the SDM zone reached the spot and took charge. The fire could be controlled with the help of about 10 vehicles. The list for giving compensation to the Dalits was prepared, but the permission of the District Magistrate could not be obtained. Due to this help could not reach the people. At the same time, about 6 days after the incident, Minister Surendra Ram inspected the incident site.
Know what is the whole matter?
On 20 April 2023, a massive fire broke out in a Dalit colony in Goreya Madarpur village of Bheldi area in Chhapra, Bihar. About 100 houses including huts and pucca houses were burnt in this fire. The fire was so severe that more than ten gas cylinders had also exploded. In this incident, property worth about Rs 80 lakh was burnt to ashes. After getting the information, 5 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and extinguished the fire. On the other hand, if government figures are to be believed, about 77 houses were seriously gutted by the fire. In this, 21 cattle sheds caught fire.

In this case, Ramdayal Ram, a resident of the village, said, “I have suffered a lot. My 25 bags of wheat, two bags of rice, two bags of mustard, 6 goats and 9 chickens have been burnt to death. There is no food item left.” The entire ration was burnt to ashes. Till now no financial aid has reached. On the other hand, according to the fire relief assistance list, a total amount of Rs 9800 is to be paid for the fire. In this case, the Disaster Management Officer says that relief work was done. Community kitchen and clothes distribution were given to the people. Marhaura subdivision officer Yogendra Kumar talked about running the community kitchen till the community kitchen system is fixed. To repair the electricity in the village, the SDO of Madhaura sub-division told that the work is going on on the pillar (pole) to repair the electricity.
List prepared but financial aid could not reach even after 6 days
The incident happened on 20 April 2023. After the fire, a list of about 77 people has been prepared on April 22. In these 77 families, an amount of Rs 9800 is to be given to each family. In which there is 6 thousand for fire grant while Rs. 3800 for damaged clothes. Total financial assistance of seven lakh fifty four thousand five hundred will be given to 77 families. At the same time, a total of 21 people have been nominated for the animal enclosure in the fire incident. An amount of Rs 2100 is to be allotted to each person. Its total amount is Rs 44,100. Both these amounts have not yet reached the families of the victims.

Minister visited, delivered relief material
On April 26, 5 days after the fire incident, Minister respected Surendra Ram reached the spot. He talked about giving one thousand (1000) bamboos and twelve hundred (1200) bundles of khar to get the house built. In this, 340 bamboos reached on 27 April 2023.

What do the responsible officers say?
In this matter, the Zonal SDM told that the list has been prepared for providing financial assistance. This amount will be distributed from today till tomorrow as soon as the permission of the higher officials is received. While giving the information, the SDM also told that according to the government provision only 9800 amount is made. Which will be sent to the victim’s account.
