Family collects body of girl murdered by teen

Tirunelveli: The family members of M Santhiya, who have been refusing to collect her dead body seeking justice for her murder, collected her mortal remains on Thursday evening. The body was taken to her residence at Thirupanikarisalkulam in Tirunelveli city amidst heavy police security.
Meanwhile, the Tirunelveli district police placed a constable Jeyamani from Moondradaippu police station under suspension after the video of the teen murderer’s arrest went viral on social media.
A fact-finding committee from Madurai-based dalit rights organization Evidence visited the girl’s house and took out a study.
The fact-finding committee recommended the state government pass an order to treat the caste atrocities committed by juveniles as heinous crimes and try them in a special court.
