Madhya Pradesh: When the way for the funeral procession was blocked, the Dalit community cremated the dead body on the road!

Bhopal. In Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, a case of influential people of the village blocking the way for the last rites of a Dalit has come to light. Angered by this, people of the Dalit community kept the body on the road for 4 hours, after which the last rites were performed on the road itself.
Actually, this whole matter is of Bhadauli village of Ambah tehsil, where some people of the village did not give way for the last rites of a Dalit. The people of the village said that the road leading to the cremation ground is their private land. Therefore, he would not allow the dead body to pass through his path, after which the people of Dalit community kept the dead body on the road for 4 hours.
On receiving the complaint about the matter, police and administration officials reached the spot. But, even after his persuasion, the funeral procession was not allowed to proceed. After which the villagers cremated the deceased on the road itself.
Dalit community says that in the past too, many people did not get a place to perform the last rites in the village, so they performed the last rites on the roadside or on their private land. The villagers have complained about this to the police officers several times, but no officer has made any effort to vacate the land.
These cases also came to light in the past
In the year 2022, the police swung into action after a video of the incident from Chandpura village of Kumbhraj police station area of Guna district of Madhya Pradesh went viral on social media. In this viral video a person is saying, “Dalit family is not allowed to use the cremation ground platform for last rites.”
According to the information, Kanhaiya Ahirwar (70), a Dalit living in Chandpura village, had died, whose family members had reached the cremation ground to perform the last rites with his funeral procession. But three people of the village allegedly stopped the family members from using the platform built in the cremation ground. After this, the police reached the spot and performed the last rites.
In the year 2020, a controversy had arisen over the cremation of the body of a Dalit woman in Indore because the influential people of the village did not want to perform the last rites of Dalits in their crematorium.
When there was a dispute in this matter, people of the Dalit community sat on a dharna keeping the dead body, then after the arrival of the administration, the matter calmed down and the body of the woman was cremated on government land.
The case was of Chatwara village of Depalpur assembly constituency of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Where after the death of a Dalit woman named Kamla Bai, people took the body to the cremation ground for cremation, but influential people there stopped the Dalits from performing the last rites.
