Uttar Pradesh: Preparations to disrupt the marriage of Dalit daughters, police arrests the accused
Case of Sahaswan police station area of Badaun district, family members complained to the police.

Badaun. In Badaun district of UP, a threat was made to lay dead bodies if the bandwagon and chariot (chariot) came in the marriage procession of two Dalit daughters. In this matter, the widowed mother has accused some influential people of the village. He has written a letter to the police asking for help. The police have detained the accused. And assurance has been given to provide security at the wedding.
The whole matter is of Chandesi village of Sahaswan police station area of Badaun district. The marriage of two Dalit daughters in this village is to take place on 3 March 2024 and 6 March 2024 respectively. In the past too, there have been attacks in the village for playing DJ and taking out carts in the weddings of Dalit families. Therefore, on 13 February 2024, the people of the marriage family held a meeting and discussed with the people of all the society of the village. On this, the casteist people of the village did not give permission to take out the bandwagon and the carriage. It is alleged that the victims’ families have received threats that if they do so, dead bodies will be laid out in the marriage ceremony.
The Mooknayak talked to both the families in this matter. In both the families, the fathers of Dalit daughters have died. Mahesh’s niece Khushboo, who lives in this village, is getting married on March 3. Khushboo’s uncle is taking the entire responsibility of the wedding. Mahesh told The Mooknayak, “My niece’s marriage is to take place on March 3, 2024. Due to this, some casteist people of the village have refused to take out the procession on a cart with a band in the procession. They have threatened to face consequences if they do not agree. ” Khushboo’s aunt says, “They are influential people. Such wedding processions are never allowed in the village. We have sought help from the police.”

Like Khushboo, Kavita, daughter of Premvati, a widow living in this village, is getting married. Premvati has four sons and three daughters in her family. One daughter of Premvati is married, while the marriage of the other daughter is to take place on March 6. Premvati’s son Veeresh Kumar said, “My sister is getting married on March 6. The influential people living in the village have forbidden us to take out the procession with a band and a carriage. We have been threatened that if the procession takes place like this, “Then we will spread the dead bodies in the village. We have complained to the SSP, the police station in-charge and the SDM.”
In this matter, The Mooknayak talked to area officer Sahaswan Karamveer Singh and police station in-charge Sahaswan Saurabh Singh. Officials say that both the parties including the village head were called to the police station and talks were held.
