Brutally Beaten: Dalit Youth Assaulted by Cops in Rajasthan’s Behror Police Station

Adding to the horror, the youth claims that amidst the altercation, one of the constables demanded he procure an illegal firearm and menacingly threatened to entangle him in a case without the possibility of bail.

Jaipur– A distressing case of assault has recently surfaced involving the summoning of a Dalit youth to the local police station for questioning. Ankit Mawar, a 25-year-old resident of Jaitpura Mohalla in Behror, has lodged a formal complaint with Kotputli Behror SP, Vandita Rana, shedding light on the matter.

According to Mawar’s account, the DST team brought him to the police station under the guise of investigation, only to subject him to brutal beatings.

Mawar alleges that following the ordeal, he was unjustly arrested for disturbing the peace and subsequently presented before the SDM, where he was fortunately granted bail.

Adding insult to injury, he claims that the police coerced him into signing a document on black paper, further exacerbating his distress.

In his complaint, the complainant, a resident of Mohalla Jaitpur Ward No. 4, recounts the events of April 4th at around 8 pm when he was near the electricity powerhouse for some work.

Suddenly, constables Sanjay Dhankar and Kapil Sharma arrived with the DST team and took him to the police station without valid reason. Once there, he was reportedly subjected to relentless beating and abuse. DSP Krishna Kumar was allegedly present during this ordeal, yet took no action to intervene.

Adding to the horror, the youth claims that amidst the altercation, one of the constables demanded he procure an illegal firearm and menacingly threatened to entangle him in a case without the possibility of bail.

He describes being detained at the police station until 6 pm on April 5th, when he was released on bail following the intervention of the SDM. Despite returning to the police station at around 7 pm with his family to register a complaint, they refrained from filing a report at that time. Instead, they proceeded to the district hospital at around 8 pm, where he received medical treatment and examination.

On April 6th, he visited the Kotputli-Behror SP office along with his family to formally lodge his complaint. Additionally, he met with Neemrana ASP Shalini Raj to articulate the pain and suffering he had endured. The youth said that the authorities have assured to take action against the culprits.

Constable Sanjay Dhankar claims that he brought Ankit under the instructions of the DSP, denying any involvement in the alleged beating and asserting ignorance about who inflicted the injuries. On the other hand, DSP Krishna Kumar acknowledges awareness of the matter and pledges to conduct a thorough investigation.

He emphasizes that whoever is found guilty will face appropriate consequences. Moreover, he states that he did not issue any instructions regarding Ankit’s summoning and is gathering information from the SHO. Additionally, he notes that constables Sanjay Dhankar and Kapil have been stationed in the DST for an extended period.

Constable Sanjay reveals that a case was registered under the SC-ST Act on February 24th at Behror police station. The investigation of this case falls under the jurisdiction of DSP Behror.

The complainant, Kaluram Meghwal, a resident of Jaitpura locality, alleged that his son Ravindra was attacked by assailants wielding sticks and rods near Santoshi Mata Temple on Tasing Road while he was commuting to work on his bike. Ravindra sustained severe injuries as a result of this attack.

According to the report, Ankit Mawar and Anurag Mehra were implicated in providing information related to the incident. Former DSP Tej Kumar Pathak had revealed details in his findings however, the police investigation remained incomplete.

Subsequently, Ankit Mawar was summoned for questioning after being named in the report.
