Dalit man death in police custody: The case of death of a Dalit in the police station in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh heated up. According to the police, the man died due to deteriorating health, while the family members say that the police took him to the police station for questioning, where the Dalit man was brutally beaten and given electric shocks, after which he died. Angered by the death in police custody, people staged a protest by placing the dead body at Kasta intersection on Lakhimpur-Magalganj road at around 8 am on Saturday morning and demanded action against the culprits. According to the information, the road remained blocked for 6 hours, after which the family members ended the protest on the assurance of the police. And the jam was opened.
Inquiry in murder case:
According to media reports, on April 3, five-year-old girl Anshu, who was missing in Pakaria Jalalpur village, was strangulated to death. His body was found 100 meters from his home 26 hours after he went missing. In this case, the police had detained Asaram, a Dalit man from the village, for questioning. Where he died. After this incident there was panic in the police department. According to the police station incharge, Asaram was brought to the police station at 4 pm on Friday evening for the murder of the girl. Asaram had an upset stomach, he was taken to CHC. From where the doctors referred him to the district hospital. He died at around 10 pm.
Serious allegations against police:
According to the report of Amar Ujala, Asaram’s family alleged that the police beat Asaram brutally in the Mitauli police station premises. He was also electrocuted, due to which he died. When the death occurred, we were informed. The police had handed over the body to the family members in the night itself, saying that he died due to illness. Tension spread in the village in the morning. Hundreds of villagers came out on the streets with their family members. Protested by keeping the dead body on the road. Due to this protest there was a jam on the road. According to the information, police forces reached the police station as soon as the information was received. Police officers also became active.
